2011-Season

Spelthorne/Melrose Vs Richmond Nomads 21/08/11

BY: DAISY
(At Spelthorne on 21st August, 2011)

The match was played on a warm cloudy day at Spethorne/Melrose to start where the all Nomads reached much early before the game start. Boys warmed up themselves with some practice of catching and batting make use of the time and getting them ready for the game.

Nigel lost the toss and was been chosen to bat first. It was not an easy wicket to bat as the pitch was slow and damp. It was nice to see Johnson Cundy after a long while who opened the batting with Richie. Our opening partnership lasted for first few overs and Johnson got out making four runs. Naresh with a positive frame of mind went to bat, and stayed on the wicket for a long time and made a good partnership with Richie where they almost batted for 20 over’s.

Richie was the next to got runout after making a 55 runs and good partnership and soon Naresh got out at 95. Nigel went on bat with some beautiful front and back foot drives scored a quick 67. With few over’s left Meet, Roy and Mike with some hard hitting contributed towards the score. Nomads with their good batting got 304 for 7 in 35 over’s.

Nomads went on to field after a good tea break, where the body language displayed confidence and in high spirits. Deano and Mike opened the balling; a Deano took the opposition’s first wicket where a hard catch was taken by Roy at extra cover. Smarty and Meet went on to bowl at first change where Meet bowled his spell by taking 4 wicket and Smarty bowled his entire 7 over’s for 2 wickets. Good fielding and some good catching were displayed on the ground. Roy and Cundy took 2 and 1 wicket respectively. Spelthorne/Melrose was all out for 104 runs.

Overall Nomads displayed some good performances in batting, bowling and fielding preparing them for the coming 20-20 tournament next Sunday.
